FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect when starting to work with you?
We will first do a 20-minute consultation to learn more about your needs and goals for working together. After that, if we decide to proceed the first session is an intake where we will work to gather your history and get an overview of several areas of your life and desires for treatment. We will then work together to formulate goals to create a treatment plan for future sessions and ensure that we are a good fit to work together and you feel comfortable proceeding.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I currently am private pay only. However, in the past I have been able to provide receipts or a superbill to submit to insurance for reimbursement should that be part of your benefits. I do not contact insurance companies directly.
Do you only work with athletes?
No! I am a trained general psychologist who specializes in sport so although much of my work is focused with that population. I work with individuals from all backgrounds, no athletic experience/interest needed.
How long will we need to meet?
This is typically decided collaboratively based on your presenting concerns and treatment goals and looks different for every person.
If I work with you, will you tell my coach everything?
No! Therapy is built on trust and confidentiality is a core component to the work we do. I am legally and ethically obligated to maintain confidentiality (with a few exceptions). You would have to sign a release of information for me to be able to communicate with ANYONE that is part of your athletic community. We will talk about pros/cons to this and who may be helpful to include (or not include) in our work together.
Can I contact you between sessions?
I am available by phone/email during normal business hours (8am-5pm M-F) and you are welcome to reach out with quick questions/concerns. However, I ask that you do not email clinical questions or address content we may cover in sessions as that is best addressed when we are able to talk. I do not provide crisis support resources as I am not available 24/7.
Is your practice only telehealth?
Yes currently it is only telehealth although other arrangements may be arranged for talks, behavioral observations, etc.
How long are sessions?
Typically 45-50 minutes long and we decide together how often is best to meet. Most people start out meeting once a week.
